「URUのウール」

東京・日本橋馬喰町。DDD HOTELの一角、元は立体駐車場だったという空間に、ギャラリー『PARCEL（パーセル）』はある。
現代美術を中心に、国内外のアーティストを紹介するこの場所でディレクターを務める、佐藤拓さん。アーティストの発掘から企画展のプランニング、国内外で開催されるアートフェアへの出展などを担っており、2022年には、PARCELの裏にあるギャラリーコンプレックス、まるかビル内に『parcel』をオープンした。

さまざまなカルチャーが交差する、多様な表現のなかで大切にしているのは、「綺麗、という感覚」だと佐藤さんは言う。それはビジュアルの美しさだけではなく、作品のコンセプトから制作プロセスまでの一貫性や、表には見えないきめ細やかな処理など、アーティスト一人ひとりによって異なる。アウトプットはまったく違うものでありながら、その視点があることで、PARCELらしさが生まれている。

そんな佐藤さんが着用したのは、URUが毎シーズンこだわり、作り続けているウール素材のアイテム。
ウールツイード素材を使用したオーバージャケットに同素材の1タックパンツを合わせたセットアップスタイルは、ウールツイードならではの温かみと軽くて柔らかな素材感が特徴的。そしてゆったりとしたサイジングが、気どらず自然体な着こなしを叶えてくれる。インナーに合わせたのは、コットンレーヨンシルク糸を使用した肌触りの良いタートルニット。個性的なパープルが目を引き、大人だからこそ似合うスタイルが完成した。

「セットアップは持っていますが、ウール素材ははじめて。とにかく触り心地がよく、着心地も最高でした。アートフェアのような場所でも活躍しそうです」

袖を通したからこそ発見した、素材やスタイルのあたらしい魅力。佐藤さんが発信するアートやプロジェクトにも、私たちがまだ見ぬ新しい感動や気づきが潜んでいるのだろう。

Inside DDD HOTEL, within a space that once functioned as a multi-level parking structure, sits PARCEL—a contemporary art gallery shaped by its surroundings.

PARCEL presents artists from Japan and around the world, and at its helm is director Taku Sato. His work spans from discovering emerging talent and planning exhibitions to participating in international art fairs. In 2022, he expanded the gallery’s presence by opening parcel, a new space located in the Maruka Building just behind PARCEL.

Moving fluidly through intersecting cultures and expressions, Sato values what he describes as a sense of “clean beauty.” It is not limited to appearance alone, but extends to the alignment of concept and process, and to the quiet precision found in details that often go unnoticed. Though the artists he works with vary widely in expression, this sensibility creates a cohesive atmosphere—one that defines PARCEL.

For this feature, Sato wears wool pieces that URU continues to refine season after season.
An oversized wool tweed jacket is paired with matching one-tuck trousers, forming a relaxed yet intentional set. The fabric carries warmth without weight, softness without fragility—qualities that lend themselves to ease and movement. The generous silhouette allows the look to feel natural and unforced. Beneath it, a cotton–rayon–silk turtleneck knit adds a smooth, tactile layer, while its rich purple hue introduces a subtle statement. The result is a look that feels composed, mature, and quietly expressive.

“I usually wear sets, but this is my first time in wool. The hand feel is exceptional, and the comfort is remarkable. It’s something I’d want to wear to an art fair without thinking twice.”

By wearing the garments, Sato uncovers new dimensions of material and form. In the same way, the art and projects he continues to present hold understated discoveries—waiting to be noticed by those who take the time to look.
